The Ubiquiti UniFi 5G Backup (U5G-US) is a compact, PoE-powered 5G RedCap antenna system that plugs directly into any UniFi PoE port to deliver automatic internet failover — no extra power supply needed.

Bring your own 5G data SIM or use eSIM. Managed entirely through the UniFi Network platform.

This unit was used to test the compatibility with major carrier in Australia. Comes with all accessories and original package. Please refer to the photo of the actual item.

Australian Network Compatibility

We have tested UniFi U5G-US device in our Melbourne workshop and confirmed working on:

  • Telstra — 5G RedCap* & 4G LTE
    • Telstra Wholesale (Belong, ALDI, Woolworths, etc.) — 4G LTE only
    • Telstra Prepaid — 4G LTE only
  • Optus — 4G LTE only
  • Vodafone — 4G LTE only

*5G RedCap availability depends on your carrier's coverage and plan. We recommend confirming compatibility with your provider before purchasing a data SIM.

  • Telstra 5G RedCap is available only in limited areas on certain business plans.
  • Telstra Wholesale has no current timeline for 5G RedCap enablement.
  • Optus has trialled 5G RedCap but has not yet released it commercially.
  • Vodafone has no current timeline for 5G RedCap enablement.

Important: The U5G uses 5G RedCap technology — designed for backup connectivity with lower power consumption and cost. It is not intended as a primary WAN connection.
